BTS: LOOKING FORWARD

Let’s start with what we are all thinking - so long 2020! It’s been one hell of a year. Literally.

Nevertheless, we would like to start this post by sharing what we believe are the few positives of 2020 that we should take into 2021 with us.

  • The Zoom Quiz. It provided lots of laughter and contact with friends and family to lighten what were scary and dark times at the outset of the pandemic - and think of all the extra knowledge we gained.

  • Puzzles and Board Games. We realised they are not just for children or for Christmas. They brought households together, and a healthy reminder that there is more to do at home than sit on our phones and watch Netflix.

  • Community. We proved the power of coming together during a crisis. From clapping for our frontline workers, to raising millions with Captain Tom, to supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. We came together even as the pandemic was moving us 2 metres (6ft) apart.

  • Human interaction. We have learnt to appreciate the things in life many of us previously took for granted. The value of hugs with our family, dinners with friends, conversations with strangers, will all be more meaningful in the future than ever before.

  • Panic free access to toilet roll. We shall be more grateful than ever for fully stocked supermarket shelves of our household staples.

  • Being allowed to leave the house. That’s a big one.

Whilst we cannot forget the devastation 2020 brought with it, we hope it will allow us to go into 2021 with a more profound appreciation for the little things in life than we ever have before. We welcome you to join us in making a few New Year’s resolutions that can provide focus and hope for the year to come.

Here are a couple of ours:

"I plan to start learning a new language and want to focus on improving my mindfulness through meditating more often." - Hannah

"My New Year’s resolutions are: to read more books, particularly fictional novels, and to get back into running, to strengthen my physical and mental health." - George

2020 has also been a year full of promise and hope for THE 5TH. Despite the pandemic delaying the process, we couldn’t be prouder to have finalised the creation of our scent. After working closely with our perfumer to perfect each note, this fragrance now delivers the olfactive all-encompassing experience that we had envisioned. Full production of batch 01 has now begun ready for our new 2021 launch. Our positive takeaway from the past year is that we are grateful to have learnt how to navigate a small business around unexpected challenges and hope it will only make us a stronger and more resilient brand moving forward. Here’s to 2021. Here’s to better. See you on THE 5TH. H & G
